Bali, Indonesia: Day 3

Day 3 - Tour in Bali

Second day of our TOUR in Bali!

BALI BOMBING MEMORIAL

It was October 12, 2002 when the Bali bombing occurred in one of the busiest part of Bali (Kuta).  This memorial is the original site of Paddy's Bar, where the bombing took place, the attack killed 202 people and some were injured. It is suspected that Jemaah Islamiyah, an Islamist group allegedly led by radical cleric Abu Bakar Bashir was responsible to this incident.

BATIK Shop/Factory

BATIK is a technique of wax-resist dyeing applied to whole cloth, or cloth made using this technique. Batik is made either by drawing dots and lines of the resist with a spouted tool called a canting , or by printing the resist with a copper stamp called a cap. The applied wax resists dyes and therefore allows the artisan to colour selectively by soaking the cloth in one colour, removing the wax with boiling water, and repeating if multiple colours are desired.( cr. to wikipedia)

The process of making BATIK is well detailed, it's a wonderful experience to see how they make BATIK. Now I know the reason why BATIK is pretty expensive, it's really worth the price you pay, how they amazingly create one. For some who would like to try and experience making BATIK, you can contact WIDYA's BATIK or ask your driver/tour guide, it is very popular workshop/class for BATIK making.

DREAMLAND BEACH

One of the famous beach in Bali, now known as New Kuta Beach located in Pecatu Graha Resort complex, at the Bukit Peninsula. Dreamland beach is just 15 minutes away from Uluwatu Temple, this beach is famous to surfers too.

How to get here:
Located at the Bukit Peninsula area, Dremland Beach can be reached  from Kuta-Legian area in about 30-40 minutes. From the capital Denpasar, it is roughly about an hour’s trip (depending on  traffic conditions). From Denpasar or Kuta, take the main south road (Jl Bypass Nusa Dua) which is the only route to the south Bukit Peninsula area. Take this main road south to the junction with Jalan Uluwatu II (the famous McDonald's junction), turn west towards Jimbaran Bay, continue about 2 km and at the four road junction make a sharp left up the hill (signposted for Uluwatu). Follow the road up to Pecatu Village until the main entrance of the Pecatu Graha Resort comes in sight on the right. Enter the resort and follow the road sign directing to New Kuta Beach.

ULUWATU TEMPLE

Also known as Pura Luhur Uluwatu, famous Balinese sea temple. It is one of the nine directional temples of Bali meant to protect from evil.  The view from the cliff is truly amazing, this is my favorite place in Bali.

You can watch Kecak Dance here for 100,000 IDR, Kecak is a form of Balinese dance and music drama.

How to get here:
Uluwatu is about one hour drive from the Ngurah Rai International Airport. You can use a taxi from the airport. Or you can go to Denpasar and to find a travel agent or auto rental. Many rentals also provide motorcycles.

We skip Padang Padang beach to watch the sunset here in Uluwatu Temple, yes its one of the best sunset I've seen so far, I failed to take picture of the sunset because I'm so in love of the whole place, I was like "WOW"! This temple is a must visit! Oh and one more thing, be careful of your belongings because there a re lots of playful monkeys around ^^ That ready to take your things, food, etc. ^^ Well they love attention though ^_^

So that's it for our DAY 2 tour in BALI, I had so much fun and definitely great experience that I gain from our tour driver Komang. I would love to come back to Bali if time permits me, why not ^^
