Indochina Trip 2013: Bangkok to Siem Reap

Good Morning Bangkok!

After staying 42 hours in Bangkok, we are off to our next destination "Siem Reap, Cambodia" and because we failed to get the ticket for the "direct bus to Siem Reap", we are now taking the minivan located in Victory Monument Station.

Of course breakfast first at the nearest McDonald's.

Victory Monument Station
How to get there:
From Sunflower Place, take BTS from Saladaeng Station ...... get off to Victory Monument Station.

You will see a lot of minivans here, I remember last year we also ride here going to Ayutthaya. However the terminal going to Aranyaphrayet (Poipet Border) will take less than 10 minutes walk from Victory Monument Station, it's near 7-11 store.

The fare is 230 Baht, we are only 6 passengers. After an hour the minivan stopped to a gas station, take note that you have to get off and just wait after they finish refiling gasoline.

POIPET BORDER (Aranyaprathet)

We reached Aranyaprathet District in less than 4 hours, you will see a big market place and wouldn't think that there is "immigration office" nearby. Good thing that our co passengers (locals), understand a bit English and so nice to accompanied us at the "Passport Control" area or the Poipet Border.

It only take 10 to 15 minutes exiting Thailand Border. Then just walk straight and don't mind those who approaches you.

After exiting the Thai Border, we are off to Cambodia Border which is just a short walk, again beware of the scammers.

Hello Cambodia!

Welcome to Cambodia

Entering the departure area in Cambodia border, a lot of  backpackers lined already, we spent 20 minutes here.

Free tourist shuttle bus from Cambodia Border to Bus/Van terminal going to Siem Reap

Arriving at the bus station (Border) going to Siem Reap, we pay $10 for the minibus ticket and the travel time is 3 hours.

The Mini Bus will drop you here and  don't be scared because lots of tuktuk drivers will approach you, at first we refuse them because "Bou Savy Guesthouse" offers free pick up but I have no way to reach them, we ended up riding tuktuk with the fare of $2.

Those tuktuk driver also offers "Angkor Wat Tour", the driver offered us $15 for a day tour to Angkok Wat for 2 person, he can act as a tour guide too, but Bou Savy already arranged our tour and we cannot cancel it. Bou Savy's arranged Angkor Wat Tour is $12 for the tuktuk and $25 for the English Tour Guide. For those who planned to visit Siem Reap, you may want to consider just hiring the tuktuk driver for your Angkor Wat Tour.

Thailand Day 1 - Mall Hopping

June 18,2012

What's good with our itinerary is we can swap it from Day 1 to Day 2 or vice versa, so for our Day 1 it should be Ayutthaya and for Day 2 it should be Mall Hopping and Dreamworld, but we wanted to rest a bit so we decided to go Mall Hopping instead!

Mall Hopping

Shopping is love!

From Sunflower Place we head to Saladaeng Station and hop off to Siam Station, there are lots of shopping malls here in Bangkok!

Too early to shop ^^ we had some photo ops first!

These malls opens at 10am, so we head first to Pratunam Market. It was a long walk from Siam Station to reach the market, well there's nothing special in there, it was almost 10am so we go to Platinum Fashion Mall.

My eyes widen upon seeing a lot of clothings! This is gonna be fun fun fun! ^_^

We had our lunch at Mc Donald's Platinum Fashion Mall

Sawatdee Kaa

After some shopping, we go back to Sunflower Place, following the itinerary our next destination should be Dream World, but it was already 3pm and open checking the opening hours, the theme park will close at 5pm. So we opted not to go instead we take some rest and go back to Siam Paragon.

Madame Tussauds in Bangkok (Siam Paragon)

Siam Ocean World

We spend most of our time shopping! Platinum Mall closes early like most of the shop were already closed around 7pm, so I suggest you go on shopping in the morning.

A very exhausted day 1, I don't have enough sleep yesterday. Tomorrow is Ayutthaya day tour, we are planning to do this early in the morning, leaving Bangkok around 6am! ^_^
